We're just a team of two Canadian gals hoping to shed light on the mass injustices faced by Canadians both in Canada and abroad. Submissions adored.

Anonymous asks:That's not really a "Canadian" problem. It only applies to people who are transgender but haven't bothered to get their identification updated after their transition and people who received misprinted documents. The problems should apply to the majority of Canadians, not a minority.
it’s a really really discriminatory law of course it applies to all Canadians. obviously it affects transgender people way more, but that doesn’t mean everyone else gets to ignore it
also not all transgender people CAN get their identification updated the way they want, but that’s another story
oh and plus since when have these problems applied to all canadians that’s been quite the running problem
fateanddreams asks:Problem #298 started out as an issue on same-sex marriage, but never did the government go to abolish the law. Parliamentary supremacy is still in effect in Canada, so unless Harper makes a motion, the Liberal law is also still in effect. However, they have started up a fire storm because of language. This is a clause in Canadian law that already existed, and in an effort to divert attention from the same-sex issue, they've turned this into a challenge of international comity vs the Charter.

treatsforgeese asks:I used to be asked 'Explain it to an alien' a lot in grade school for... explaining things... so, explain Canada to an alien!
But how do we even know that aliens would be able to process the same sensory information we do i mean what is the likelihood that creatures from vastly different corners of the universe would have followed an evolutionary path so similar to ours that it resulted in their processing sound waves as information, let alone having a grasp of language, and english at that! of course speech isn’t the only way to explain things, but if we’re thinking visual… how do we know that they have anything we would recognise as an eye or even the ability to derive information from visible light listen i’m sorry but I don’t think I’m qualified to explain something to an alien
And even if we could somehow get over that massive barrier, their existence would hardly follow the patterns we are used to at all. I was going to say society but would they have society? Geographical regions? An understanding of “community” or “peoples”? Where would I have to start in explaining canada? The beginnings of civilisation? I can’t even comprehend how different they would be and how much they’d have to learn - everything that we take for granted as general knowledge and even instinct, like the fact that our species separates itself into somewhat isolated groups based on borders. Borders themselves. Politics and government and ruling classes and where we find meaning in existence and power look I like history a lot but I’d need to brush up on a few things first I think
Anonymous asks:What are your thoughts on Michigan?
It’s a great album by Sufjan Stevens
mmmexicans asks:I have a friend in Texas and we're sending each other packages filled with things unique to each other's home, so I need to think of things in Canada that you can't find in the south US. I already have ketchup chips and smarties but I don't know what else :x Do you have any other ideas? I wish I could send him some poutine but it would spoil xD
Oh yes if you can find cheap snow gear I guess? And maple syrup, that’s expensive though can you tell i’m cheap
What else guys?
